Dean Shaw Introduces Pilot Interview Program

Dean Richard Shaw recently announced that for the first time at Stanford, the Office of Undergraduate Admission will offer an optional alumni interview to applicants attending high school in Atlanta, Denver, London, New York City, Philadelphia and Portland.

The program is a one-year pilot scheduled for the 2008-09 admission season. In the spring of 2009 we will evaluate the program for future expansion. In the meantime, we are excited to move forward with the pilot

The purpose of the alumni interview is two-fold. Alumni will

  • Share their Stanford experiences with prospective students; and
  • Convey their impressions of these candidates to the admission committee.

We consider alumni to be Stanford’s most authentic voice and the alumni interview to be the superlative means for applicants to learn more about Stanford and for us to learn more about our candidates for admission.

Register now to take part in this important work of admission.

We are continually amazed by the warmth, enthusiasm and generosity of our alumni volunteers and hope you will join us to make our interview pilot program a success.

If alumni interviewing is not being offered in your city this year, there are a host of additional admission activities available, and we encourage all alumni interested in volunteering in admission to register.
